Schalander in Kempten

My wife and I visited the "Schalander" on June 13, 2020 during our Allgäu-Alps motorcycle tour. A great and centrally located restaurant with a beautiful terrace and a view over the city center of Kempten. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the CORONA requirements were implemented in an exemplary manner, including the menu as a QR code. The food was delicious; my wife had the "Schalanderpfännle", I the "Halballgäuer Onion Roast" - see photos. Price / performance are also completely ok We would love to come back here anytime!

Very friendly service in a cozy atmosphere. We were there in the afternoon, so that only the small menu was available to us. The Käsespätzle I had were great. Very flavorful! The salad that was there was good, but nothing more. Overall, all of the dishes we had were very tasty.

I haven't eaten such a wonderful steak in a long time. Meat quality top notch and super friendly service. We can recommend this restaurant without reservation. We will be back definitely. Thank you ??

Solid and delicious regional cuisine, very nice waitress and relaxed terrace in the Kempten pedestrian zone. Unfortunately, the digital map is not easy to load, but a tablet can be borrowed. All in all highly recommended.

The Schalander is an integral part of our visit program in Kempten. The food is always delicious. The daily menu has seasonal and regional specialties, which are always excellent and offer a nice variety. The service is friendly and attentive. I can only recommend!

After the good reviews, we decided on this restaurant. Unfortunately it was all in all rather disappointing: the service was not very attentive, because on the one hand they were already set for the evening and on the other hand one of the two service staff was completely busy with the children at another table. The beer was unfortunately a bit warm and tasted almost stale and the schnitzel with fries arrived almost cold and is not really worth the rather juicy price. The good ratings can therefore probably only be explained by the lack of competition in the city. Positive: the hygiene measures were implemented very well.

The food is excellent. We recommend. The service was very friendly. I'll subtract one star for the boss. Wasn't exactly friendly.

Satisfied customer for years. Very hearty, high quality Swabian cuisine, lots of meat and a lot of sauce, just like the Swabian likes it. The service is first class and warm-hearted. We recommend!

Tasty food!

Here one is happy and good. We were told from the start that it may take a little longer today. The food came sooner than expected, so we were all the more happy. Good service and the best onion roast.

Were here for dinner on the recommendation of our Airbnb hostess and can confidently pass on the recommendation. Everything is still freshly prepared here, so it can take a little longer. We are happy to accept that because the food is great. Everything tasted great, decent portions and very attentive, quick and nice service. Those who like good home cooking will not be disappointed.

Food was okay. Service friendly. But I don't understand why card payments are only accepted from € 25. This should not be the case in times of Corona.

Culinary very successful evening in the Schalander. The restaurant is centrally located in the city and the service was friendly and quick. The onion roast was perfectly medium fried and the Kässpätzle were great too. I can warmly recommend the homemade apple strudel for dessert. The wheat beer tiramisu was also praised by a colleague.

The most delicious meal of our Allgäu vacation. Due to the positive reviews and looking for a restaurant without tourist "mass processing" we came to the Schalander. Without a table reservation we were lucky to get a seat. The lady who served us was incredibly friendly. We both had a Schalanderpfännle: pork and beef were perfectly cooked, juicy and tender. Apple strudel & creme brûlée also delicious.

Very good outdoor service. Despite Corona or precisely because of it, our Kraft service had everything under control. The menu made a local and very good impression. Unfortunately, we were only able to test three meals and were absolutely thrilled, see pictures.

I reserved a table online two days in advance. When I made my online reservation, I asked to get roses in the news. The occasion was our 33rd wedding anniversary with the roses and the rose were on the table. Very nice friendly service. The food is really very good and tasty. Fresh and tasty. My wife was also thrilled. We have about 50 minutes to get there, but we will definitely go to the Schalander again I became aware of Schalander on the Internet.

I got reconciled with German food thanks to this restaurant ! Amazing service (wearing local suits), nice place and delicious food. Should you be in the town, go there, you won’t regret ?

If you ever tried German food and didn't like it, I challenge you to try this place. Just awesome!

I've been there with my collegues and i really like the food and the place. The waiters were so gentle and fun and i'd return here just for them. The price was reasonable for what we take. I recommend this restaurant and i'm sure i'll return here next time.

Excellent place to try local cuisine. We ordered a couple of things and everything was absolutely delicious.

We were very impressed with this restaurant yesterday. The food was delicious, the service friendly and sitting out on the Terrasse has a nice atmosphere. We were there with our 2 year old daughter and were pleasantly surprised by the variety in the kid's menu. It wasn't all deep fried/straight out of the freezer junk food! Plus they have high chairs and the nappy changing table in the female toilets also has wipes, disinfection spray, spare nappies, cream and more. Very useful and thoughtful for the restaurant to provide so much. Highly recommend this place!

Probably the best restaurant in Kempten. Great dishes and cosy atmosphere. I highly recommend Späzle with cheese! Very friendly waitresses who make the stay there a special experience.

My favorite restaurant in Kempten. Delicious Käsespätzle, huge yummy salads, haven't had a bad meal yet. The service is always very friendly and jovial, yet efficient. It's always busy for dinner and tables are fairly close together, so dining with young kids can be challenging - but they are always accommodating. HIGHLY recommend.

Fantastic traditional German cuisine. I highly recommend the roasted pork with sauerkraut.

Hmmm that was really great local food. The quality of the meal was excellent! It was promised as handmade and as far as I can challenge it that was also the case. Very tasty. To make it even better the staff was the most friendly within Bavaria which we experienced. Really nice and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. Maybe you have to reserve a table in advance but its definitely worth it. If possible I would give 6 stars.

Delicious food. Smaller lunch menu - sausages with pretzels were wonderful. For dinner ordered the "noodle plate" (english) to try a few different items - the Kassespazel and maultaschen were fantastic.
